Car insurance FAQs
Our private car policies cover you for driving to work, but won't cover using your car for work. Our Commercial vehicle insurance might be right for you if you:
- are an on-road salesperson.
- are a tradesperson with a vehicle for work.
- have a company car provided by your employer as a staff benefit.
If your insured vehicle is deemed by us to have a high risk of theft, an additional excess of $250 applies to claims for theft of this vehicle. We won't apply this additional excess if you can provide satisfactory proof that the vehicle was fitted with a functioning alarm system at the time of the loss.
Vehicles that are high risk of theft are:
- Mazda Demio
- Mazda Atenza
- Toyota Aqua
- Toyota Mark X
- Nissan Tiida
Your windscreen and window glass is automatically covered under our Comprehensive and Third party fire & theft policies. If you ever need to make a claim for windscreen damage, just call us on +679 331 5955 and we'll get it sorted.
You can also add our windscreen excess buyout benefit when you take out the policy and you won't pay an excess if you claim or lose your no-claims bonus.
We do, as long as they are driving inside the conditions of their licence.
If you're not completely happy with your cover, just let us know within 15 days of the policy start date.
As long as you haven't made any claims during this time, we'll cancel the policy and refund any premium payments you've made. If the policy was not quite right, we might be able to change it to better suit you.
We aim to make claiming on your car insurance as simple as possible. We'll guide you through the process, let you know what happens next and keep you up to date with any progress. Find out how to start a claim.
